GC8101 and GC9200 Modem Addresses Noise issues and Delivers Reliable Communications for Deployments
Singapore, September 23, 2013 - gridComm, a provider of power line communications (PLC) solutions that enable the transformation of the notoriously noisy power grid into smart grid, today announced its new GC8101 PLC Module and GC9200 DIN Rail version device. Based on OFDMA technology, the GC8101 and GC9200 are designed with ultimate flexibility to operate in a wide range of noise-prone power line environments guaranteeing superior communication performance while addressing the need for ease-of-use with a user-friendly GUI that facilitates convenient configurations for four different modes of operations namely Point-to-Point, Simple Broadcast, Auto-Routing and Broadcast-Routing.
Integrated with GC-Net, an efficient networking software optimized for PLC applications, the GC8101 and GC9200 combine cost-effective designs with high level programmability enabling quick time-to-market that greatly helps shorten the development and deployment time of any PLC-based system drastically. In particular, R&D engineers can now focus their development work in their system and not having to worry about the challenges of understanding the random power lines issues and of developing the complicated network layer firmware which could consume several men-months. Extremely flexible and reliable, the GC8100 and GC9200 features a software architecture that largely employs transparent protocol with auto-registration, auto-discovery and auto-recovery features where network routing is needed.
"gridComm PLC module provides a simple and efficient way to communicate over power lines, reducing the need for additional copper and increasing productivity. Several different selectable network topologies and OFDM capability increases the reliability of this solution. We worked with gridComm to develop the PLC solution as part of our award winning cloud energy management platform and expect the solution to be available to customers in Q4 2013", said Kenneth Lee, CEO of Green Koncepts, a 2013 Emerging Enterprise Finalist.
The GC8101 and GC9200 are available now for evaluation and smart grid system deployment.
