GC9200

The Gridcomm GC9200 is a DIN Rail Power Line Communication (PLC) modem. It automatically configures and self-adapts to the varying conditions on power lines, resulting in extremely reliable and robust communications in a Low-Voltage power network. The DIN Rail PLC modem utilizes the industry-leading GridComm GC2200, an OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) Power Line Communication Transceiver. Simple "plug-and-play" with transparent protocol, it needs only to pass data via RS485 to PLC modem to send to destination nodes and is configurable with up to 54 Carrier Frequencies out of 100 pre-installed frequencies between 5KHz to 500KHz over 18 channels in 3QPSK, 3BPSK or 1BPSK modulation schemes with up to18 levels of redundancy.

Features

  • A pair of Dry Contacts Digital Inputs can be used in conjunction with a sensor with FET or BIPOLAR output for active devices
  • A pair of dry contacts for relays
  • Repeater mode to increase the distance coverage
  • Frequency range: 5KHz to 500KHz
  • Configurable for FCC, Arib and CENELEC modes of operation
  • Input power supply: Options for 120V 60Hz and 220~240V, 50/60 Hz, 100mA
  • Scan Frequency tool to scan for best 18 carrier frequencies based on RSSI and Received Success Rate for up to 8 nodes.
  • Noise Indicator tool to detect noise level for selected frequency channels.
  • Debug tool to test success rate of communication links
  • Operating Temperature -40°C to +85°C
  • Rx Sensitivity: -75 dBm
  • Distance: Up to 3km tested (actual distance depends on power line conditions)

Benefits

  • Standalone PLC modem that connects directly to 3-Phase AC power lines.
  • Simple "plug-and-play" operation
  • RS485/RS232-PLC bridge via transparent protocol
  • Robust Communications: Based on GC2200, communications over up to 18 OFDM channels
  • Reliable, Predictable Communications: Automatic configuration in noisy environments via best channel scan to provide most robust and reliable data transmission

Applications

  • Smart metering and smart grid
  • Street lighting control
  • Smart energy home area networking
  • Home automation (HA)
  • Building automation (BA)
  • SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition)
There are a number of applications that the GC2200 is ideally suited for: Advanced Metering, Infrastructure (AMR), Automated Meter Reading (AMI), Smart metering and smart grid, Street lighting control, Smart energy home area, networking, Home automation (HA), Building automation (BA), SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition).
  • Raw data rates between 1.22 Kbps to 7.32 Kbps depending on power line conditions
  • 3QPSK, 3BPSK, or 1BPSK modulation schemes with up to 18 levels of redundancy
  • 18 independent channels operating with up to 54 out of 100 pre-configured carrier frequencies between 5 kHz to 500 kHz.
GridComm developed a Link Adaptation algorithm (or GC2200 Lower MAC) that establishes a viable set of frequency bands for communication between GC2200 nodes and maintains the viability of this subset while the nodes are in operation.
