Singapore – gridComm, a Smart Street Lighting solution provider well known for its extremely reliable and robust powerline communications (PLC) and hybrid PLC-RF solutions that leverage the city's power lines as the backbone network for street lights and IoT sensors connectivity, saving millions of dollars in electricity and maintenance costs, today announced that it teams up with ECO Solutions to install Smart Street Lighting Sensory Network in various parts of Spain.
By partnering with ECO Solutions, gridComm brings its unique Smart Street Lighting Sensory Network technology to enable the transformation of traditional street lights into smart street light IoT sensor networks creating the foundation for a Smart City. gridComm uses its PLC and Digital Power Supply technologies to convert existing power lines into energy-aware, remotely managed and monitored web-based networks. Using gridComm Smart Drivers, modems and NEMA controllers as the building blocks, ECO Solutions builds on this Smart network installing with various energy-efficient streetlights and smart IoT sensors (AC-powered or battery operated), such as weather and pollutant sensors, for data analytics.
gridComm Smart Street Lighting Sensory Network system is built with hybrid communication technologies comprising of the gridComm multi-channel OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) PLC transceiver, GC2200, and a wireless physical layer. PLC is implemented as the primary communication means over wireless for its high reliability and robustness.
"As the world is becoming more conscious with the Greenhouse effect, installing a Smart Street Lighting Sensory Network system which also enables automatic dimming depending on conditions of the roads and environments is key to saving energy and money while limiting carbon emission. gridComm solutions are critical to our strategy for building Smart Cities. We have started installing the smart system in the municipality of Villarta de San Juan and are happy that we are getting good results. More projects are being planned in the pipeline and we are very optimistic with the business outlook," said Miguel Rica, CEO of ECO Solutions.
"gridComm is proud and excited to collaborate with ECO Solutions to contribute to the development of Smart Cities in Spain," said Tuck Long Nge, Founder and General Manager of gridComm. "And we ensure that, by deploying with gridComm's solution, the problem of having to send engineering experts to fix connectivity issues in the field, commonly seen with other solution providers, will not happen. It is unthinkable to have to tune deployments in the field as this will incur huge cost to our customers preventing them to scale their business. The solutions simply have to work-out-of-the-box."
